Hi. I’m Tim Roarty and was appointed to serve again as Safety Officer for 2009. Another year has passed and as time rotates through the year, I will continue to highlight the importance of motorcycle safety by developing, promoting and lecturing on motorcycle safety information to the attendees at the Oakland H.O.G. monthly meetings. The primary focus will be directed to promote motorcycle awareness and safety through proper training, preparation, and riding habits from recognized motorcycle safety standards.
H.O.G. members will be encouraged to continue their riding skills training in order to refresh their knowledge. Motorcycle riding is fun and it provides a feeling of freedom. Without continued motorcycle skills training and education we could develop rider complacency. Currently, our chapter has a good track record regarding safe rides. I want to continue with that record. Remember, when riding solo or in a group ride, no matter if you’re a motorcycle enthusiast, weekend rider or a beginner you must ride within your skill level, do not ride over your ability. Only you can increase motorcycle safety through your own actions.
